Beyond Business: Honored for Driving Social Innovation and Sustainable Impact

Society is transformed only when individuals choose to care and act.
Recently, I had the privilege of joining Team AlmaPario and the Concerned Members of NYSC serving in Akwa Ibom State, led by Corper Rhema Akinyanju. It was an incredible opportunity to speak on a subject close to my heart: Beyond Business—Building for Impact, Social Innovation, Sustainability, and Scale.
To cap off an already rewarding experience, I was deeply humbled to receive an Award of Recognition for Contribution to Innovation from the organizers.
While the award is an incredible honor, the true highlight was engaging with bright minds and unpacking what it really means to build beyond financial gain.
Mapping the Path to Social Innovation
During my session, we focused on shifting the mindset from pure profit to solving real, local problems. I guided the students through a practical framework on how to generate innovative ideas for social change, outlining these essential steps:
Identify & Align: Discover your unique talent, pay attention to the problems around you that your talent can solve, and deeply understand who is most affected.
Design & Map: Match your gift to the problem, brainstorm creative solutions, and explicitly align your idea with at least one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Test & Scale: Check the practicality of your idea, start small, gather continuous feedback, and plan structures for long-term sustainability.
The Ultimate Metric: Measure success by your impact on people and society, not just the money.
A Full-Circle Moment
This event was also a deeply personal milestone. Standing before those students, I couldn't help but remember my own secondary school days. I had a pivotal encounter with a youth corper—Engr. George Biga Okechukwu—that laid the foundation for my journey into computer engineering. Seeing Corper Rhema Akinyanju create that same spark for the next generation was a powerful reminder of why we do this work.
This recognition is a beautiful reminder that our efforts to build ecosystem-changing solutions do not go unnoticed. Thank you to the AlmaPario Team for the platform, the hospitality, and the honor.
We are just getting started. My ultimate life purpose remains unchanged: to bridge the technology gap in Africa and build structures that outlive us.
This is me trying to make some uncommon sense.
