Bridging the Digital Divide: Leading a Rural Digital Sensitization Campaign in Southern Nigeria

In line with our mission to promote digital literacy and empower underserved communities, I had the privilege of leading the Tech Affairs Nigeria team to launch a groundbreaking Digital Sensitization Campaign targeting rural areas. This initiative aimed to enlighten people about the transformative possibilities of technology and equip them with knowledge to engage in the digital economy.
The campaign featured a week-long radio program on Passion 94.5 FM, a popular station in the region. With its extensive reach, the program educated listeners across six states in Southern Nigeria, while also capturing the attention of an international audience through our online streaming platform.
Through engaging discussions, expert insights, and relatable examples, the program demystified technology for thousands of people. It sparked conversations, inspired curiosity, and laid the foundation for digital inclusion in rural areas. The positive feedback we received—from farmers learning about e-commerce to youths exploring tech careers—was both humbling and motivating.
This experience underscored the power of technology as a tool for social transformation and the importance of making it accessible to everyone, regardless of location. Together, we’re taking steps to bridge the digital divide and create opportunities for all.
