Bridging the Gap: Convening Stakeholders to Revolutionize ICT Education in Nigeria

Driven by my passion to advocate for skill-based learning and improve the quality of tertiary education in Nigeria, I collaborated with my team to organize the first-ever Stakeholders Meeting involving leaders from the technology industry, academia, and government. This groundbreaking convergence was designed to foster collaboration and promote practical learning within core ICT departments in Nigerian universities.
Held at the prestigious University of Uyo, a federal institution in Nigeria, the meeting provided a platform for open dialogue, innovative ideas, and actionable strategies. It brought together diverse voices, all united by a common goal: to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.
The discussions were impactful, leading to the birth of three significant collaborations between ICT departments and the tech ecosystem. These partnerships aim to equip students with hands-on skills, real-world experience, and access to opportunities that align with global standards.
This initiative reaffirmed my belief in the power of collaboration to drive systemic change. It was inspiring to see stakeholders come together to redefine the future of ICT education, ensuring that Nigerian students are not just graduates but industry-ready professionals equipped to excel in a rapidly evolving digital world.
